Favorite Books

Yay!  Time to talk about books.  Actually this was a prompt I added.  Since I'm doing this in December I needed 31 prompts.  Since there are prompts for favorite movies and TV shows, there needs to be one for books as well.

The first is L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables.  As a young girl I really identified with Anne.  Like her I was always writing stories and I had a huge imagination.  And I'm not ashamed to admit that I still have a huge crush on Gilbert Blythe.  The Anne series chronicles Anne's life after she comes to live at Green Gables, a farm owned by brother and sister Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert.  Anne's imagination and constant daydreaming get her into no end of scrapes, such as accidentally getting her best friend drunk and sinking the Barry's dory.  But Anne's heart of gold wins over even her toughest naysayers.

Another favorite of mine is Janet Evanovich's wonderful Stephanie Plum series which starts with One for the Money.  The series begins with Stephanie losing her job as a lingerie buyer.  Desperately in need of a job she blackmails her cousin Vinny into giving her one.  Only it's not doing filing like she thought.  He gives her a job as a bounty hunter.  And her first skip is Joe Morelli, Trenton cop and the boy who took her virginity when she was a teen.  Of course Stephanie has no clue what's she's doing so she turns to her very own Professor Higgins, Ranger Manso.  Ranger runs his own security company, Rangeman, and also does all the high dollar (read:dangerous) skips for Vinny.  Her books are hysterical.  For all the training and help that Ranger gives her, Stephanie is still not your typical bounty hunter.  Her gun is more likely to be in her cookie jar than on her person, she frequently ends up covered in garbage while in pursuit of her skips.  And in almost every book she manages to destroy at least one car.  But in spite of all this she still brings in her skips.
